Colombia CFMoto 450MT Tours

2026 will be the first year of Peak Motorcycles CFMoto 450MT tours to Colombia. All tours start and end in the city of Medellin and can be run at any time of the year. The region is equatorial so they have consistent weather all year round, though the northern hemisphere winter is a great time to escape the dark, cold and wet and ride motorcycles in some incredible landscapes and the sunshine!

Guests should plan to arrive on the Saturday, the riding starts on the Sunday morning, when it is the quietest time to leave the city, and we return to Medellin on the Friday afternoon. Most guests either fly home on the Sunday evening after the tour or stay on to do other things in Colombia.

For the recce tour, there were three bikes available. A further six bikes will be arriving in January, making a total of nine available from February 2026. The first tour I have planned is from 28 February-8 March 2026 (8 Places remaining)

If you would like to do the tour at any other time, please complete this form with your preferred and possible dates.

Please note that the minimum number of riders required to run the tour is four. If you are fewer than this number, you can still complete the form, and when other smaller (or larger) groups express interest in the same dates, the trip will be confirmed.

The maximum number of passengers in the support vehicle is four, though three is more comfortable.

There is an option to make this a two week tour that includes travelling out to the Caribbean coast and visiting the UNESCO world heritage old town of Cartagena. The Caribbean tour can also be run as it's own one week tour. Currently this has not been checked, though a recce trip is being planned. If you would be interested in joining the recce, including it as part of a two week tour, or doing it as a standalone trip, you can register your interest here.

These are fly-ride motorcycle trips. This means you fly in and out of Medellin, Colombia, and the itineraries are as follows (Road and Trail % refers to the distance travelled and not the time taken):

For day by day reels of this tour please see the Instagram links below

Saturday Arrival into Medellin where you will be met and transported to the hotel in Medellin. The day is yours to explore the city, or relax by the rooftop pool. In the evening we will have a pre-tour dinner at a renowned Colombian hotel across the road from the hotel.
Sunday Load up the bikes and leave Medellin for Doradal via Guatape. After lunch, the route transitions into tropical lowland roads, with warmer temperatures and lush landscapes guiding us toward Doradal.
We arrive in the afternoon at a boutique-style hotel perched like a mirador,
offering beautiful views, a swimming pool, and plenty of space to relax after the
first day on the road. (5h Riding, 190km, 95% Road, 5% Gravel)

Monday Today we leave the views of Doradal and head for the old colonial town of Honda. After an excellent lunch we will arrive in the afternoon at our hotel with a refreshing pool, though beware of falling mangos! We will take taxis into Honda for the evening to visit the old town and have dinner (4h Riding, 170km, 95% Road, 5% Gravel)
Tuesday We begin climbing into the Andes with a reflective visit to Armero, the site of Colombia’s most tragic volcanic eruption. Then up to Líbano and on to Murillo for lunch. We then ride Colombia’s most breath-taking road: the ascent to 4,000 meters at Nevado del Ruiz, a landscape of high-altitude magic before a gravel descent leads to our thermal spa hotel for the night where we can soak in natural pools under the stars. (4h30 riding, 170km, 85% Road, 15% Gravel)
Wednesday After breakfast, we set off north through Manizales and into the heart of Colombia’s coffee region. After a break in the colorful town of Ríosucio there is an incredible scenic gravel route toward Jardín, pausing to feed hummingbirds at over 3000m elevation. Should the gravel road be impassable due to heavy rain, or if you'd prefer the smoother route there is also an option to take the stunning paved mountain road that winds into Jardín, and we will have two guides allowing the group to split if required. (4h30 riding, 155km, 65%, Road 35% Gravel)
Thursday Leaving Jardín, we have two route options: either a short, paved ride to our destination or a slightly longer, but rewarding, gravel track toward Jericó, a town celebrated for its rich culture and traditional architecture. Regardless of which way we choose, the ride promises stunning mountain scenery and authentic Colombian charm. From Jericó, we continue to Cerro Tusa Springs, a hidden gem nestled at the base of Cerro Tusa, the world’s tallest natural pyramid-shaped mountain. This unique setting offers the perfect place to unwind and reflect on the journey. Our boutique hotel in Venecia is surrounded by serene landscapes, features a pool and a forest canopy walk for those without a fear of heights! It is an ideal last-night retreat before we conclude our adventure. (5h30 riding, 177km, 70%, Road 30% Gravel)
Friday We enjoy a leisurely morning departure toward Santa Fe de Antioquia, one of Colombia’s oldest towns, founded in 1541. Here, we’ll pause for a coffee in the historic plaza before continuing the ride across the iconic Puente del Occidente suspension bridge. Our route then takes us through Sopetrán as we make our way back toward Medellín, timing our arrival to avoid the city’s traffic. The journey ends where it began: at Poblado where we park our bikes one last time and celebrate the adventure with a relaxing moment overlooking the city. To end the day, we gather for an evening of Tejo, a game played by throwing metal 'Tejos' at gunpower, which is best enjoyed with beer and Colombian delicacies! (3h30 riding, 156km, 95% Road, 5% Gravel)
Saturday After a restful night and a hearty breakfast, your guide will pick you up for a guided tour of Medellín. Explore the city’s most emblematic spots, from its vibrant plazas and historic streets to the colourful murals and dynamic street art of Comuna 13, a neighbourhood renowned for its resilience and transformation. Along the way, you’ll gain insight into the local culture, history, and the stories that have shaped this extraordinary city. Lunch is included during the tour, giving you a taste of Medellín’s
flavors in a relaxed setting. We return to the hotel around 4:30pm with some time to relax before our end of tour dinner overlooking the lights of the city of Medellin.

Sunday This is the departure day. For those staying until the evening, it is an opportunity to have a stroll with the locals as part of the weekly 'Ciclovia' and do any final shopping before your flights onwards or home.

FAQ's

Is it safe?
This is a question many people have asked me. I've been twice in 2023, once in 2024 and twice in 2025 and had no problems at all. This is the UK Foreign Office travel advice. The tour stays only within the green areas marked.
I'd suggest you leave any fancy watches and jewellery at home, don't use your expensive smart phone on the street, only travel by Uber or a licenced taxi when in the city, and don't go exploring unknown neighbourhoods at night, on your own.
If you would like some extra peace of mind, Global Rescue offer a Security Package upgrade to their standard medical evacuation service. Please note that this is a rescue service and not a substitute for travel insurance. They will not pay hospital bills.

Do I need to have off-road motorcycle experience?
Ideally, yes. You don't need to be an expert, but some experience of riding trails and understanding basic riding position and how a bike behaves on dirt roads is useful. That said, this trip is not extreme off road. It's riding low powered trail bikes on public roads. In and around the city the roads are paved. One guest in February 2025 had never ridden trails before and completed the trip without incident, so it is is possible, but not recommended.
Away from the city they are dirt roads, a bit like green lanes in the UK, but they are also used by cars, buses, trucks and horses. If you've never ridden on a trail before, then I'd suggest trying it before you travel. I can recommend a few places in the UK, and if there's enough interest, perhaps even arrange a pre-tour weekend for those that are interested.

What's the weather like?
In Medellin it is always spring. 15-20C at night and 22-30C during the day. It has tropical rains which can be heavy, but tend to be brief and warm. We cross the Los Nevados del Ruiz national park at an elevation of over 4000m above sea level so will be cooler for a short period. I'd suggest UK summer riding gear (e.g. mesh clothing) with a waterproof layer just in case and a warmer layer for going up high. A suggested kit list will be provided prior to departure.

Do I need travel insurance?
Yes. 100%. I wouldn't suggest you travel without it. Riding a motorcycle comes with it's own risks, much like it does at home. If you need to get out or get home urgently, then travel insurance that covers you for riding motorcycles on public roads (paved or unpaved) is essential.
If you require extra cover above your travel insurance, I can recommend checking out Global Rescue who offer an enhanced evacuation service. I've never had to use the service, but I take out the extra cover from them when travelling in remote locations, just for the days travelling. Please note that Global Rescue is not a travel insurance provider. They are a global call centre with the ability to arrange rescues from hard to reach places.

Have you done the tours yourself?
Yes, a recce tour on the 450MT's was completed in December 2025. Daily reels from the recce tour are listed below.

The tours can be done with (almost) one week off work, to showcase some of the highlights of Colombia.

What are the bikes?
The bikes are the CFMoto 450MT twin cylinder adventure bikes. They have six speed gearboxes, disc brakes and electric starters. They make about 45hp, and weigh around 185kg. They are faster than nearly everything else on the roads in Colombia.

What is the seat height?
The standard seat height is 820mm, which is 5cm/2in lower than a standard CRF250L. Lower seat options are available which reduce it to 800mm.

Could a non-riding partner come along?
Yes, absolutely. All of the paved sections are fine 2-up on a 450MT. For the gravel sections there are three choices:
  • You ride 2-up (not recommended if muddy, unless you are experienced)
  • You take a paved route instead of the gravel route. There is always a paved option.
  • The passenger can travel in the support vehicle. There are three seats available and it is a modern Nissan double-cab pickup truck.
How do I book?
A 25% deposit is required to secure a place with the balance due two months before the tour starts. You can request further information by clicking the following links:
